Visibility Settings (formerly Layers) allow the user to turn geometry on or off based on the organization of the original 3D file. This is ideal for showing different model configurations, toggling between groups, links, categories, layers, families, etc (depending on what source model you’re working with) - allowing you to isolate or highlight various geometry as needed.

How to Use:
*Upgrade to version 2.11 and create a new export of your file to take advantage of enhanced visibility settings
Visibility settings allow users to mix and match the visibility of geometry within their 3D file, based on various different concepts of geometry grouping native to the source of the 3D file. Examples of these available settings listed below per file type.
Visibility settings can be controlled both in Scale Model Mode as well as while inside the model at 1:1 Real Scale.
Whether on an HTC Vive, Oculus Headset, Prospect for Desktop (Without a headset), or some other supported device, licensed users all can access the drop-down menu showcasing these available settings. Visibility settings can also be easily accessed and controlled when inspecting an element - a workflow that can be particularly useful if you're unsure of how a model element is categorized.

On Import:
When importing a file from Rhino, layers behave exactly as they would in the original file. The visibility behavior of objects belonging to nested layers is fully supported in Prospect, though parent and child layers are currently shown in a uniform list in our menu, as shown below.
Similarly, layers turned off on import from SketchUp will maintain the layer visibility settings on last save.
Notes
- When importing a file from SketchUp, all layers are automatically pulled into Prospect, and layers that were hidden when the SketchUp file was last saved remain hidden in Prospect when the file is launched. If you’re having trouble with layers from a SketchUp file, make sure that you’ve associated your layers with groups or components rather than entities.
- Due to the constraints of the various software used to export IFC, Obj files and FBX imports are likely to experience incompatibility when using the visibility settings feature.
- Doors identified/identifiable with metadata containing the English word Door will automatically fade when teleported towards. They can also be turned off throughout a model using Visibility Settings. Read more door fades, windows, and transparency here.
