Enhancement request: allow jumping between tool icons

I would love to be able to jump from one tool icon to another, without having to turn off the one I'm currently on.

  It'd be helpful if you could describe a bit further the issue that you're running into when you're moving from tool icon to tool icon. Are you looking to use multiple tools at once?

  It's more of a UI thing - having to turn on AND turn off each tool is one step too many.  Jumping between tools implies turning off the previous tool - "I want to use this tool now".  An analogous web reference is the tab - you don't expect to have to turn off the current tab before clicking the next tab - it's implicit.  Does that make sense?
