Hi Chase, interesting bug. It's not something I've seen before. Do you think you could take a screenshot of the issue and post it here?

I have the same issue. Also using CV1. Hard to screenshot, because the image looks normal on regular screen.

It is extremely hard to convey, but I've attached a couple of pictures that try to illustrate it.

It stretches everything when I tilt my head. I think the best description is perspective view vs iso view.

Hi Chase and Rene, thanks for reporting this issue. Does this distortion effect persist if you keep your head relatively still for a second or two?

The distortion I experience is related to the tilt/head position. If my head stays still in one position the distortion doesn't change.

The distortion persists even if I keep my head still.

    That's my issue exactly,

If I hold my head still the warp/distortion is less noticeable, although everything still looks slightly elongated and scale seems off. When you look around/tilt side to side it is very jarring as the image contorts and bends.

Hi Chase and Rene, thanks for the extra information.  I'm a bit puzzled because Prospect doesn't do anything extra to warp the image beyond what Oculus' own software provides.

Based on your description, it sounds like asynchronous timewarp is kicking in when it should not.  However, if that was the case I would've expected its effects to not be noticeable with your head still.

Are you both running the latest Oculus runtime?  If you open the Oculus application and navigate to Settings > General, you should see Oculus App Version 1.7.0.xxxxxx at the bottom of the page.

Also, as a long shot... any chance the sight line between your Oculus sensor and headset might be obstructed when you're turning your head?  That would disrupt positional tracking and might cause some display anomalies.

    Hi Matt.

Running the newest runtime on Oculus. Positional tracking is not obstructed from camera.

I cannot be certain about the asynchronous timewarp, but yes, it could be that it is active, although with the kind of issue it seems a bit far fetched.

Rene does this issue occur in any othe Oculus Experiences?

This does not occur in any other Oculus Experiences.

Chase and René what graphics card are you using? Also do you happen to have any other headsets or video outputs plugged into your machine simultaneously? We're getting creative over here to try to replicate the issue on our end.

I am using an Amd RX 480.

My gpu just has the CV1 plugged in via the HDMI port and my monitor via a powered display port to DVI-D adapter.

Thank you for looking into this issue.

AMD R9 390. CV1 is plugged directly into the HDMI and 1 monitor in DVI-D to HDMI adapter.

Thank you for looking into it.

Ok great thank you both, we're going to test on an AMD card tomorrow (we're primarily Nvidia internally), and that should help clarify. Thanks for your patience on this and I'll update shortly.

I was able to test on an AMD GPU today and can replicate the issue. It's a fairly noticeable bug and it appears to be specific to certain AMD GPUs like the R9 390. Thank you both for bringing this to my attention and our next release will fix this issue.

In the short term, I'm still exploring ways to fix the issue before our next release and I will follow up on this thread if I can find a workaround.

Thanks Shane for taking the time to figure that out, we are looking forward to that fix.

    Hi Shane,

Just wanted to follow up and see if any further progress has been made toward getting a fix for this issue or possibly an eta on next release.

    Cheers

Hi Chase, thank you for the follow up. We are only a few weeks away now, but I'll try to get you a build to test before then as well. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you very very much for fixing the distortion issue. Just tested with your 1.0 version, and it works.
Thank you also for an excellent and simple tool for viewing CAD files in VR.
